The Manhattan Bridge from Dumbo
One of the most iconic images of New York City is a suspension tower of the Manhattan Bridge framed by the old factory buildings in the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn.
The Bridge was completed in 1909 and was the third bridge over the East River connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn after the Brooklyn and Williamsburg Bridges. When it was built, the area was largely industrial. While the industry has gone, many of the old factories remain, although they have been renovated into luxury apartments and offices.
The area has a special atmosphere with cobblestone streets and amazing views of Manhattan. It’s a highlight of our Instagrammable New York Tour.
Did you know Dumbo is an acronym for “down under the manhattan bridge”?
